On April 18, Dushanbe will host festive events dedicated to the Day of the Capital of the Republic of Tajikistan. On this day, at 2:00 PM, the Odina Khoshim Children's Art School will host a cultural program and an awards ceremony for the winners of city competitions. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the Department of Culture of the Dushanbe City Executive Authority.
The event will summarize the results of competitions in healthcare and education, including "Hospital of the Year," "Primary Health Care Facility of the Year," "Physician of the Year," "Family Physician of the Year," "Nursing Worker of the Year," "Educator of the Year," "Teacher of the Year," and "Student of the Year." Recipients of the Dushanbe Mayor's Scholarship and winners of other competitions will also be recognized. The awards ceremony will take place in a formal setting, with the winners receiving prizes from the city's executive authority.
Festive events will take place in all four districts of the capital. Public festivities, meetings, gatherings, and various cultural and sporting programs are planned in culture and recreation parks. The city's streets and avenues will be decorated with banners and slogans dedicated to Dushanbe.
It is noted that Dushanbe has significantly transformed since independence and has become one of the most beautiful cities in the region. Authorities attribute this to the ongoing government policies and initiatives of the country's and the city's leadership, thanks to which the capital continues to actively develop and improve.
Dushanbe is currently a member of several international organizations, including the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities, Twin Cities International, United Cities and Local Governments, and the World Tourism Cities Federation. The city maintains sister city and partnership ties with cities across the globe and is developing cooperation with Moscow and Tashkent in the economic, scientific, technical, and cultural spheres.
According to the Law "On Public Holidays," the Day of the Capital of the Republic of Tajikistan is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of April. In 2026, this date falls on April 18.
