On April 20, a delegation from the Sughd region, headed by the regional chairman, Rajab Akhmadzoda, arrived in Moscow, Russian Federation, on a working visit.
As part of the visit, Rajab Akhmadzoda held a bilateral meeting with Sergei Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This was reported by the press service of the regional governor.
During the conversation, the parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia. It was emphasized that the sustainable development of bilateral relations is a result of the policies of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A meeting of the Russian-Tajik Business Council was then held with the participation of a delegation from the Sughd region. In his speech, Sergey Katyrin noted the steady expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the regions of the two countries and emphasized that such meetings have become a good tradition.


Sughd Region Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda, presenting the region's economic potential, noted that agriculture is actively developing in the region. High-quality fruits are produced there, including apricots, peaches, cherries, grapes, and pomegranates. He noted that the region boasts over 80,000 hectares of orchards, and during the season, up to 1,000 tons of export produce are shipped daily to Russian markets.
At the same time, special attention is being paid to industrial development. More than 1,300 industrial enterprises operate in the Sughd region. It was noted that the region has the potential to create new production facilities in various sectors, including light industry, by attracting investment and organizing the production of finished goods.
The region's tourism potential was also presented. Attracting tourists from the Russian Federation was identified as a priority.
Islom Nazaraliev, Chairman of the Russian-Tajik Business Council, called the international expedition "Journey to the Heart of Eurasia" a successful example of economic and cultural cooperation. He noted the important role of the Sughd Region in hosting key events, including the "Sughd – Crossroads of the Great Silk Road" forum in Khujand.






The meeting was attended by representatives of the business community and heads of government and commercial entities of the Russian Federation, including Vladimir Platonov, Anatoly Goltsov, and Sergey Zhuravlev. They shared their experiences of cooperation with the Sughd Region.
A presentation of the region's investment opportunities was then held at the Congress Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. Over 200 business representatives attended the event, learning about the region's economic potential.
As part of the presentation, participants were treated to a cultural program.
The parties expressed confidence that the results of the meetings and negotiations will create favorable conditions for expanding economic cooperation and attracting investment between the Sughd region and regions of the Russian Federation, and will also contribute to the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
