The Republic of Tajikistan will adopt an Energy Code in 2026, according to NIAT Khovar, citing the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The draft Energy Code of the Republic of Tajikistan is currently under review. The document covers key energy sector issues, including improving energy efficiency, regulating relations in the production, transmission, and use of electric, thermal, and geothermal energy, developing renewable energy sources, ensuring energy security, and attracting investment.
It is noted that this code is of great importance for the comprehensive regulation of legal relations in the energy sector and strengthening the legislative framework for the sustainable development of the industry.
The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources also reported that, as part of achieving the country's energy independence, construction of solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW is planned to begin in 2026 in the southern and northern regions of the republic.
In addition, in 2026, the implementation of the second phase of projects to reduce electricity losses in 26 cities and districts of the country will begin, as well as construction work under the project "Construction of electrical networks in the rural jamoat of Romit – phase two."
The implementation of these measures, as emphasized, will make it possible to take sustainable steps towards achieving national energy goals in 2026, improve the reliability of energy supply, increase the efficiency of electricity use, and expand its export potential.
