A plane crash involving a Falcon 50 business jet, tail number 9H-DFJ, carrying Libyan Army Chief of Staff Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad occurred in Turkey, according to Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibah.
The plane departed Ankara Airport at 8:10 PM local time, bound for Tripoli. Contact with the aircraft was lost at 8:52 PM. According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on the social media site X, the plane requested an emergency landing in the Haymana area, after which contact with the plane was lost.
The plane's wreckage was discovered by gendarmerie units two kilometers south of the village of Kesikkawak in the Haymana district. There were five passengers on board, including the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed al-Haddad, the commander of the Libyan ground forces, the director of the military production department, and an adviser and photographer to the Chief of Staff.
Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibah confirmed the death of Mohammed al-Haddad and called the incident a grave loss for the nation, the military, and the entire people. Dbeibah's statement noted that the incident occurred after the Chief of the General Staff returned from an official visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara.
