Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan plan to open consulates general in two cities—Khujand and Osh. This was announced following a meeting between Seitek Zhumakadyr uulu, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Nazirmad Alizoda, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting took place on December 17, 2025, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The parties discussed issues of Kyrgyz-Tajik consular cooperation, including operational collaboration to protect the rights of citizens of both countries. Particular attention was paid to creating new opportunities to expand consular support and improve the efficiency of diplomatic missions.
Currently, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic operates in Dushanbe, providing diplomatic representation and consular services to Kyrgyz citizens in Tajikistan.
The opening of consulates in Khujand and Osh will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties, expanding consular support for citizens, and developing cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in various fields.
