Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the strategic and fundamental importance of the intellectual and moral development of minors and called for concerted efforts to create a favorable social environment conducive to the comprehensive and healthy development of the younger generation. He made this statement during a briefing on efforts to improve moral standards among minors, as reported by chinadaily.com.cn.
Xi Jinping, who is also General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Party Central Committee has prioritized the intellectual and moral development of minors. He stated that a number of measures have been taken since then to advance this work, leading to new successes and concrete results.
The head of state emphasized that at this new stage of the country's development, raising moral standards among minors must be viewed as a strategic and fundamental task. He emphasized the need for systematic and consistent youth education, noting that this process should be constantly guided by the "Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era."
Xi Jinping called for further improvement of the collaborative education mechanism, which involves schools, families, and society. He stated that such a comprehensive approach should foster high ideals in children, strengthen their commitment to core socialist values, and develop moral qualities and correct behavior patterns.
He noted that the goal of this work is to educate a new generation of young people who possess comprehensive development—moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic—as well as diligence, and who will be able to fully contribute to the development of socialism and the advancement of the socialist cause.
The Chinese President also called on party committees and governments at all levels, as well as relevant departments and organizations, to intensify cooperation and join efforts to create a favorable social environment that ensures the healthy development of minors.
Xi Jinping's statement was made at a symposium on the intellectual and moral development of minors, held in Beijing. Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech. Li Shulei, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, chaired the symposium.
