On December 12, 2025, the third meeting of the Working Group of Representatives of Phytomonitoring and Plant Protection Services of the CIS Member States on the Detection and Control of Locust Pests under the Intergovernmental Council on the CIS Agro-Industrial Complex was held at the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was chaired by Alexander Malko, Director of the Russian Agricultural Center.
The event was attended by heads and experts from state phytosanitary services and organizations of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.


Anar Dzhanakhmedov, Deputy Director of the CIS Executive Committee's Department of Economic Cooperation, addressed the meeting participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the Working Group's contribution to efforts to reduce risks and prevent emergencies in agriculture related to locust pests and outlined future challenges.
The meeting heard reports on the phytosanitary situation in the CIS countries, summarized the preliminary results of the implementation of the Set of Measures to Prevent the Development of Locust Pests in the participating countries, and presented information on the development by the Russian Agricultural Center of a draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation between the CIS States to Prevent the Development of Locust Pests dated September 29, 2025.
Participants discussed promising plans for future work, emphasizing the importance of coordination and close collaboration to reduce the risk of economic damage from the widespread spread of locust pests and ensure food security for countries.
