A two-day meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution "Decade of Action in Cryospheric Sciences, 2025–2034" opened on December 9 at UNESCO headquarters, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The meeting participants noted Tajikistan's leading role in promoting international initiatives to address global water and climate issues, and emphasized the importance of implementing the resolution aimed at developing and strengthening research in cryospheric sciences.
A representative of Tajikistan provided information on preparations for the Fourth High-Level International Conference of the International Decade for Action, "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028," scheduled for May 2026 in Dushanbe. He noted the importance of the upcoming forum as a platform for expanding international cooperation in water resources, climate, and cryospheric research.
