On November 27, 2025, the fifth meeting of the Working Group of the Member States of the Intergovernmental Council for the Exploration, Use and Protection of Subsoil Resources on current areas of development in geology and subsoil use was held via videoconference at the Geology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan), the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
The acting Chairman of the Geology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kanat Bakhytbekovich Yerubayev, was elected as the Head of the Working Group.
Experts discussed in detail the draft Roadmap for the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Program for the Development of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Study, Use, Protection, and Monitoring of Groundwater for the Period up to 2030, approved by the Decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on December 12, 2024.
The feasibility of developing this document is determined by the need for consistent implementation of the said Program, including cooperation in the analysis of national approaches to the management, protection and monitoring of the groundwater resource base.
Experts will continue working on the draft Roadmap at the sixth meeting of the Working Group in the first quarter of 2026. The document is scheduled for approval by the Intergovernmental Council for the Exploration, Use, and Protection of Subsoil Resources in September 2026.
