President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko at the Palace of the Nation.
The meeting discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia within the framework of strategic partnership and allied relations, including the development of interparliamentary ties.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening and developing various aspects of Tajik-Russian cooperation, including political dialogue, trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. According to the presidential administration's press service, the President noted that interaction between parliaments is viewed as an important component of the overall bilateral relationship.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the need to strengthen the work of relevant parliamentary committees, particularly in the areas of economics, investment, energy, medicine, and the environment. Particular attention was paid to expanding the exchange of experience in legislation, digitalization, entrepreneurship support, and social policy.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed Tajikistan's chairmanship of the CIS and noted the positive results of Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Tajikistan, as well as the CIS and Central Asia-Russia summits held in Dushanbe.
The parties also exchanged views on continuing the practice of constructive interaction within other regional and international organizations.
