From January to September 2025, all modes of transport in Tajikistan transported 115,005.9 thousand tons of freight, a 15.4% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, 109,420,000 tons of freight were transported by road, accounting for 95.1% of the total volume. Compared to last year, this volume increased by 15.4%.
The structure of automobile transportation by regions of the republic shows that 33,361.7 thousand tons of cargo (30.5% of the total volume) were transported in the Sughd region, 42,395.6 thousand tons (38.7%) in the Khatlon region, 1,067.5 thousand tons (1.0%) in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, 15,678.6 thousand tons (14.3%) in the city of Dushanbe, and 16,916.6 thousand tons (15.5%) in the districts of republican subordination.
During the specified period, 5,585.0 thousand tons of cargo were transported by rail (including loading, unloading and transit), which is 16.1% more than in January–September 2024.
Freight turnover of all modes of transport in January–September 2025 amounted to 11,403.4 million tonne-kilometers, an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, all modes of passenger transport carried 832,096.2 thousand passengers in the first nine months of 2025, representing a 9.6% increase compared to the same period in January–September 2024. Land transport accounted for the majority of passenger traffic, accounting for 99.9%. Compared to the previous year, passenger traffic increased by 9.7%.
