From January to June of this year, 3.5 million Uzbeks traveled abroad for tourism, a 29.7% increase compared to the same period in the first half of 2024. Moreover, as in the previous year, most travelers chose neighboring Kyrgyzstan, according to data from the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, Fergana.ru reports.
During the reporting period, over 1.5 million tourists from Uzbekistan visited Kyrgyzstan. Other Central Asian neighbors, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, also made the top three, with over 664,000 and 631,000 visitors, respectively.
Russia came next, with over 230,000 Uzbeks choosing it. Following Russia on the list is Saudi Arabia, with 145,000 people. It's worth noting that tourist statistics for this country are traditionally influenced by Muslims who have made the pilgrimage to the Islamic holy sites of Mecca and Medina.
The top ten also included: Türkiye; UAE; Egypt; Thailand; Vietnam.
According to the Uzbek statistical agency, 5.3 million foreign tourists entered the country in the first half of this year. This figure represents a 1.5-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
