Foreign trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia grew by 11% in the first six months of 2025, and both sides are making efforts to increase it, according to Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavki Zavkizoda, according to TASS.
"In the first half of this year, trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia reached $1.071 billion, <…> this is a good result, however, we will make efforts to increase it," the head of the department said, adding that mutual trade between the two countries grew by 11% compared to the same period in 2024.
Zavqizoda noted that both sides have taken a number of concrete steps to increase trade turnover. He added that, together with his Russian colleagues, a decision was made "to ensure balanced growth in trade turnover, simultaneously increasing exports from Tajikistan and imports from Russia."
By the end of 2024, trade between Russia and Tajikistan amounted to approximately $1.9 billion, 15% higher than in 2023. In March 2025, following talks with Rahmon in the Kremlin, Putin stated that Moscow and Dushanbe were working to increase bilateral trade turnover by 2.5 times by 2030. Earlier, the Export Agency under the Government of Tajikistan reported that Tajik products worth $53.4 million were exported to Russia in the first six months of 2025. Apricots, plums, cherries, grapes, peanuts, dried fruits, onions, cabbage, beets, as well as building materials, cotton fiber, and cotton yarn are shipped from Tajikistan to Russia.
