On August 6, 2025, in accordance with the Work Plan of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, a working meeting of the chiefs (general) of staff and officials of the border agencies of the CIS member states responsible for organizing border security was held in Zharkent at the premises of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was dedicated to the topic: "The Impact of Border Security Threats on the Organization of the Protection of the External Borders of the CIS Member States and the Development of Joint Measures to Localize Them," the press service of the Executive Committee of the Organization reported.
The Coordination Service of the SKPV organized the event, which was attended by representatives of the border agencies of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the Coordination Service of the SKPV.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, Colonel General A.L. Manilov, who informed those present about the situation on the external borders of the CIS member states and measures to strengthen border security.
The meeting addressed the current state and developments in various areas, and an exchange of experiences in combating cross-border crime in the context of new realities at the external borders of CIS member states took place.
During a constructive dialogue, representatives of border agencies identified key areas for improving joint efforts to organize and conduct practical events to counter modern challenges and threats.
A common opinion was expressed on the need to further improve the coordination of joint activities and consolidate the efforts of border states – CIS members in matters of localizing illegal activities on the external borders of the Commonwealth states.
