Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv will not make peace with Russia on the condition of relinquishing any Ukrainian territories. He wrote this on his Telegram channel.
"The answer to Ukraine's territorial question is already in the Ukrainian Constitution. Ukrainians will not give away their land to an occupier. No one will or can back down from this," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The head of state noted that Ukraine is ready for "real solutions that can bring peace," but he called any agreements made without Kyiv's participation or directed against it "dead decisions" that "will never work."
Zelensky also expressed his readiness to work with US President Donald Trump and other international partners "for the sake of real and lasting peace—a peace that will not fall apart because of Moscow's wishes."
Earlier, on August 8, Trump announced on his social media account, Truth Social, that he intended to hold a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. The White House chief had previously stated that a potential peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv could include a "territory swap," noting that the details would be discussed soon.
