Tajikistan's industrial production is demonstrating steady growth and plays a key role in providing employment, increasing the gross domestic product, exporting goods, and the country's overall economic development, according to the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, citing data from the Department of Demographic Statistics.
In the first seven months of 2025, industrial enterprises, together with private entrepreneurs, produced goods worth 34.89 billion somoni. In comparable prices, this is 24.5% more than the same period last year, reflecting significant growth in the industry.
The main factors increasing the rate of industrial production were:
Extractive industry – growth of 1.7 times,
Manufacturing industry – increase by 6.0%,
Production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air purification – growth of 12.7%,
Water supply, treatment, waste processing and recycling of raw materials – an increase of 15.2%.
The mining industry produced 11.7 billion somoni worth of goods from January to July 2025, 1.7 times more than the same period last year. This growth was driven by coal and boron production (up 5.6%), crude oil and natural gas (up 2-fold), metallurgical ores (up 1.7-fold), and various mineral extraction (up 42.2%).
Manufacturing production volume amounted to 16.2 billion somoni. Key areas include:
Food industry, including beverages and tobacco – 5.5 billion somoni,
Textiles and clothing products – 1.5 billion somoni,
Wood and paper products, publishing activities – 393.5 million somoni,
Oil products – 27 million somoni,
Chemical products – 303.3 million somoni,
Non-metallic mineral products – 2.2 billion somoni,
Metallurgical products and finished metal products – 5.3 billion somoni.
Overall, manufacturing output grew by 6.0%. Among food products, production growth was noted: vodka and liquor by 33.9%, pasta by 19%, confectionery by 12.2%, and chicken by 20%.
The production and distribution of electricity, gas, and air purification in the first seven months of 2025 amounted to more than 6.6 billion somoni, representing a 12.7% increase. The production and provision of water supply, waste treatment, and recycling services amounted to 206 million somoni.
In the structure of industrial production in the country, the largest share falls on the Sughd region – 61% and the Khatlon region – 19.4%.
The average volume of industrial production per capita in the republic amounted to 3,357.17 somoni.
During the reporting period, 3,887 industrial enterprises operated, including:
Extractive industry – 351 enterprises,
Manufacturing industry – 3,361 enterprises,
Electricity and gas supply, steam production and air purification – 72 enterprises,
Water supply and waste processing – 103 enterprises.
Experts emphasize that the growth of industrial production in Tajikistan is an important factor in sustainable economic development, contributing to the creation of new jobs and increasing the export of national products.
