A man has been detained in the Nosiri Khusrav district of Khatlon Region on suspicion of murdering his wife, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported .
According to the department, 44-year-old Chori Kuliev, a resident of the district, is suspected of premeditated murder of his 41-year-old wife, a mother of four. The report notes that the crime was committed with particular cruelty.
"The suspect hit his sleeping wife twice on the head with a rock. After confirming she was still showing signs of life, he wrapped her fingers in electrical wires and connected them to the power outlet. As a result, the victim died from electrocution," police reported.
The Nosiri Khusrav District Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan (murder). Depending on the severity of the crime, the suspect faces a prison sentence of 8 to 25 years.
An investigation is currently underway and the man has been taken into custody.
