Over the past 17 years, more than 48 billion 100 million somoni have been allocated from the state budget and other sources for the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant. This was announced today by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, during a meeting with Rogun HPP employees and city officials.
According to the head of state, an analysis of the current state of construction showed the need to ensure high speed and quality. He also emphasized that the dam's construction must be carried out at an international level, in compliance with all standards, and that the new hydroelectric power station must be commissioned within the established timeframe.
"Since the beginning of 2025, 4.3 billion somoni have already been spent on construction work using budget funds. The total investment in the project since 2008 has exceeded 48.1 billion somoni," Emomali Rahmon noted.
The President also emphasized the importance of quality control and timely completion of all stages of construction to ensure uninterrupted electricity generation and the country's energy independence.
Currently, over 18,000 people, including workers and engineering and technical personnel, are working at the Rogun HPP construction site, using over 3,700 pieces of machinery and equipment. An additional 443 pieces of equipment were commissioned in 2024–2025 to expedite construction.
