At least four people, including two children, were killed in a massive overnight attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian capital, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
“At this time, four people have been confirmed dead, two of them children,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to preliminary reports, the attack was accompanied by cruise missile and drone launches from various directions. Air defense systems were in place in the capital and several regions of Ukraine.
Earlier, Kyiv City Military Administration Chief Timur Tkachenko reported three deaths and 24 injuries. Among the wounded were at least five children aged 7 to 17.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the strikes hit residential areas and infrastructure in the Holosiivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Darnytskyi districts. Windows were blown out in several buildings, and fires were reported in multi-story buildings, a kindergarten, and a shopping center. Nine cars burned in a parking lot in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
In Zaporizhzhia, according to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the regional administration, an industrial facility was attacked and a fire broke out. Russian cruise missiles were detected in Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Sumy, and other regions.
Ukrainian authorities are urging residents of the capital and regions to remain in shelters until the air raid alert ends.
