From September 26 to 28, the Qingdao Grand Prix 2025 International Judo Tournament will be held in Qingdao, China, bringing together athletes from more than 20 countries. Eleven judokas have been announced for the Tajikistan national team.
According to the Tajikistan Judo Federation, the country will be represented at the competition by:
– Mehrzod Sufiyev and Muhammadsoleh Kuvvatov (weight category up to 60 kg),
– Obid Jabs (up to 66 kg),
– Abubakr Sherov and Masudi Ahmadzod (up to 73 kg),
– Somon Makhmadbekov (up to 81 kg),
– Muhammadjon Abdujalilzoda (up to 90 kg),
– Jahongir Majidov (up to 100 kg),
– Akhliya Muminova (up to 48 kg),
– Alexandra Kan (up to 57 kg),
– Victoria Kiseleva (over 78 kg).
Particular expectations are pinned on the performance of Somon Makhmadbekov, one of the most decorated Tajik judokas in recent years. Experts also name Obid Jebov and Abubakr Sherov among the tournament favorites.
According to federation representatives, participation in the Qingdao Grand Prix will be an important step in the national team's preparation for upcoming continental tournaments and will also allow athletes to earn International Judo Federation (IJF) ranking points. These points directly impact the distribution of Olympic quota places for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
