On August 26, a thematic presentation on "Chinese Modernization" was held at the M. S. Osimi Tajik Technical University. The presentation highlighted China's achievements in modernization and highlighted the development of Tajik-Chinese cooperation in science, technology, and education. During the event, the establishment of the first "Lu Ban Workshop" in Central Asia was officially announced.
The presentation was attended by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tajikistan, Guo Zhijun; the head of the delegation of the Communist Party of China, member of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Qinghai Province, Wu Xiaojun; as well as the Deputy Chairman of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, Mirzokosim Karimzoda, and representatives of the TTU leadership.
According to Ambassador Guo Zhijun, the "Lu Ban Workshop," established at the initiative of the heads of state of China and Tajikistan at the M.S. Osimi Tatarstan Technical University, will focus on urban thermal energy, geodesy, and the study of new energy sources. "This is fully consistent with the essence of China's modernization—high-quality development and the harmonious coexistence of man and nature," he noted, emphasizing that China intends to share its new modernization achievements to create additional opportunities for all countries.
The ambassador also highlighted the dynamics of bilateral relations: according to him, in the first half of this year, China became Tajikistan's largest trading partner for the first time and continues to be the largest source of investment. Guo Zhijun noted the active development of transport infrastructure and cooperation in renewable energy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce.
In his presentation, the head of the CPC delegation, Wu Xiaojun, cited statistics: bilateral trade volume in 2024 amounted to almost $4 billion, and trade turnover since the beginning of this year has reached $964 million, which, according to him, represents an increase of almost 30% compared to last year. He also expressed readiness to expand exchanges and cooperation with the Tajik side in areas of environmental management, the protection and creation of national parks, and the fight against desertification.
PDPT Deputy Chairman Mirzokosim Karimzoda emphasized that the creation of the Lu Ban Workshop is the fulfillment of the agreements reached by the countries' leaders and an important step in implementing joint programs. He recalled that diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and China were established on January 4, 1992, and over the past 33 years, more than 250 bilateral documents have been signed, including the 2018 declaration on comprehensive strategic partnership and the memorandum of cooperation between the PDPT and the Communist Party of China signed in 2024.
During the meeting, the Tajik side presented the achievements of the university and its research teams. Following the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between M.S. Osimi Tajik Technical University, Qinghai Vocational and Technical University, and Qinghai University, providing for the exchange of specialists, joint educational programs, and the development of professional training within the Lu Ban Workshop.
According to the organizers, the event aims to strengthen practical cooperation in technical education and the implementation of innovative solutions, as well as to facilitate the training of personnel for joint projects in the energy, digital economy, and environmental protection sectors.
