Tajik President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that increasing electricity production is one of the state's top priorities for ensuring sustainable economic development and meeting the growing needs of the population.
The head of state made this statement during a meeting with Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant employees and city officials. During the event, Emomali Rahmon noted the importance of implementing the Rogun project, which provides a significant portion of the country's energy needs.
According to the President, the first two units of the hydroelectric power station have produced 9.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since their commissioning, at a total cost of 2.1 billion somoni .
Emomali Rahmon also announced plans for next year: the temporary impellers of the fifth and sixth units will be replaced with permanent ones, which will significantly increase electricity generation and strengthen the country's energy security.
The head of state also emphasized the importance of the hydroelectric power plant's workers' participation in the development of the national energy sector and noted that the completion of all stages of the Rogun HPP's construction will significantly contribute to Tajikistan's economic development and improve living conditions.
