Cooperation between Tajikistan and China is developing not just in words but in deeds and has reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon in an interview with leading Chinese media outlets—People's Daily, China Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and China Media Group (CCTV).
According to the head of state, Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Tajikistan last year was a key step in deepening relations between the two countries. "The friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and China are confirmed by concrete results. Our countries have strengthened cooperation in virtually all areas, from economics to humanitarian ties," Emomali Rahmon emphasized.
The President particularly emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in areas such as industrialization, energy, transport, investment, digital technologies, and the implementation of green projects. He emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative has opened up new economic opportunities for Tajikistan and stimulated infrastructure development.
The Leader of the Nation also addressed the role of the Chinese President. "Xi Jinping is my friend. He is a leader with vast experience, a broad worldview, and international prestige. His global initiatives are of paramount importance for peace, security, and the development of regional integration," Emomali Rahmon noted.
Ahead of his upcoming visit to China and participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council meeting in Tianjin, the Tajik leader praised China's chairmanship of the organization. He noted that Beijing's practical contribution to regional security plays a key role in creating a solid foundation for sustainable economic and social development in the region.
The President of Tajikistan also emphasized the need for further cooperation in countering modern challenges and threats. He cited the fight against terrorism, extremism, radicalization, separatism, cyber threats, drug trafficking, and other forms of transnational crime as priorities.
