The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will support Tajikistan in reconstructing the capital's road infrastructure, the country's Ministry of Transport announced .
On August 28, Transport Minister Azim Ibrahim met with an EBRD delegation, during which the parties discussed prospects for developing transport links between Europe and Central Asia, including the use of the Tajikistan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Turkey–Europe multimodal transport corridor.
The Minister of Transport noted that the EBRD has proven itself to be a reliable partner for Tajikistan, actively supporting projects to develop the country's transport infrastructure. Particular attention during the talks was paid to the modernization of Dushanbe's road transport system, aimed at improving the efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability of the city's infrastructure.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a grant agreement to support the activities of the Dushanbe Road Reconstruction Project Implementation Group and the consultant for the "Reconstruction and Modernization of Dushanbe Infrastructure" project.
As a reminder, the Road Reconstruction Project Implementation Group was established on November 15, 2024, under the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan. Its mission is to coordinate, manage, and monitor projects aimed at improving the capital's road network.
