The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, delivered a welcoming speech via video message at the joint exercise "Interaction 2025" with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the CIS Executive Committee press service reported.
In his address, Yermekbayev emphasized that over nearly a quarter of a century, the SCO has transformed itself into a reputable international association, established a solid legal framework and mechanisms for interaction, and established partnerships with states, international organizations, and structures that share common principles and values.
"Developing multidisciplinary cooperation to maintain and strengthen peace, security, and stability is one of the key objectives of our organization, as enshrined in the SCO Charter," the Secretary-General noted.
Yermekbayev also recalled that at the September 1 meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council in Tianjin, important documents were adopted, including the Declaration and the Organization's Development Strategy to 2035, which outline the key guidelines for further strengthening the SCO's potential. Furthermore, agreements were signed on the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe and the Universal Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats to Member States in Tashkent.
According to Yermekbaev, such initiatives contribute to strengthening international security and expand opportunities for joint responses to modern threats.
