US President Donald Trump may meet with a group of Arab leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York on September 23, Axios reported, citing sources in Arab diplomatic circles.
According to the publication's sources, invitations have been received by the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. The situation in the Gaza Strip is expected to be discussed at the talks.
Arab and Muslim leaders intend to urge the US president to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to help end the conflict, sources said.
It was previously reported that Donald Trump will host Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on September 29.
Furthermore, as Axios reports, the White House intends to hold a separate meeting that same day with the leaders of the Persian Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. A key topic of the talks will be the regional states' concerns about the risk of Israeli strikes expanding beyond the Gaza Strip.
