The Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan of the seventh convocation adopted the Law "On the Status of Teachers," aimed at strengthening the social and professional significance of teachers and developing the education system in the country.
The parliamentary session was chaired by Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon. During the session, deputies considered several key bills, including amendments to the laws "On Education," "On Military Duty and Military Service," "On the Status of Military Personnel," and amendments to the 2025 state budget law. An investment agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Asim LLC for the restoration and expansion of the Adrasman Mining and Processing Plant OJSC was also approved.
The draft law on the status of teachers was presented by First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Khoshimzoda Khomid. He noted that the document provides for guarantees for teachers, increased social protection, professional standards, and incentives for working in education.
The discussions were attended by the heads of relevant parliamentary committees, including Sheralizoda Mukhamadullo, Chair of the Committee on Energy, Industry, Construction, and Communications; Musojonzoda Jamila and Najmiddinyon Asadullo, members of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, and Youth Policy; and representatives of the Committees on Law and Order; Defense and Security; and Economy and Finance. The deputies reviewed all proposals, after which the law was adopted by a majority vote.
The adoption of the law creates a legal basis for increasing the prestige of the teaching profession, expanding teachers' rights, and improving the quality of education in Tajikistan.
