In Khujand, work continues to modernize the water supply and sewerage systems as part of the city's improvement program, timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence.
A project to construct a new sewer network and wastewater treatment plant on the city's right bank was presented to the Sughd Region Chairman, Rajab Akhmadzoda, city leadership, architects, designers, and water supply and sanitation specialists, the regional administration's press service reported.
The project was developed by the company "Muhandisoni Oyandasoz" with the support of the executive body of the state authority of the Sughd region and the participation of local entrepreneurs. According to the plan, an 11-kilometer sewer collector will be completely renovated, with the installation of pipes with diameters ranging from 800 to 1200 millimeters.
Rajab Akhmadzoda instructed that modern engineering and technical standards be strictly adhered to during the design and commencement of construction. He emphasized that construction must be carried out with high quality and within the established timeframe, as the facility is of significant social significance and is designed for long-term operation.
Work has now begun on reconstructing the sewer network in the 4th and 5th microdistricts, as well as on Rakhmon Nabiyev Avenue. Replacing old pipes with new, more durable, larger-diameter ones will improve the system's stability and meet the growing needs of the population.
Along with the modernization of sewer networks, water supply improvement projects are being implemented in Khujand. Specifically, the regional governor inspected the project "Water Pipeline from the Dehmoy Jabbor Spring in the Rasulov District to the City of Khujand." As part of the project, drinking water will be supplied through a pipeline over 17,560 meters long to new residential areas in the 1st and 3rd microdistricts.
Experts note that population growth, the construction of multi-story buildings, and the emergence of new neighborhoods are increasing demand for drinking water and utilities. Therefore, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Sughd Regional Administration, major water supply and water treatment projects are being consistently implemented.
The regional chairman instructed responsible officials and contractors to pay special attention to the quality of construction work and the use of reliable, modern equipment.
The implementation of these projects is aimed at providing Khujand residents with high-quality drinking water and an effective sewage system, as well as creating long-term and sustainable infrastructure for the city.
