In the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan, during raids to suppress activities related to witchcraft, fortune telling and other superstitious practices, police officers detained 10 people suspected of fraudulent activities. This was reported by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Khatlon region.
The inspection activities were carried out in the districts of Shahritus, Jeyhun, Vose, Baljuvan, Vose, Dangara, Nosiri Khusrav and the city of Kulyab. As a result, facts of illegal activity were identified, classified as administrative offenses and criminal offenses.
As noted by the UMVD, despite repeated warnings from internal affairs agencies about the inadmissibility of turning to so-called “fortune tellers” and “sorcerers,” some citizens continue to rely on superstitions, thereby exposing themselves and others to the risk of becoming victims of deception.
Those detained for administrative offences under Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Tajikistan include:
Nurubuloev Mamadaikha Ismatovich, born in 1962, resident of the village of Madaniyat, Jeyhun district;
Imomova Safargul Nimatovna, born in 1968, Tutzor village, Jeykhun district;
Abdulloeva Khidoyat Ergashalievna, born in 1980, Sayyodi village, Shakhritus district;
Yatimov Mirzomudin Abdurakhmonovich, born in 1961, Chukurak village, Khovaling district;
Davlatova Kholbi Makhmudzhonovna, born in 1966, Beshkapa village, Kulyab city;
Shokirova Sayranbi Abdulloevna, born in 1961, Dangara district;
Ibrokhimov Abdusalim, born in 1958, Sari Parom village, Vose district;
Karshieva Bibirokiya Bobonazarovna, born in 1971, Nosiri Khusrav district.
According to the department, criminal cases have been initiated against Turakhanov Kholmurod Karimovich, born in 1978, a resident of the village of Vatan in the Shakhritus district, and Safarova Shodigul Gulmatovna, born in 1968, a resident of the village of Dusti in the Abdurakhmon Jomi district, for repeated violations under Article 240, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Investigative measures are ongoing. The internal affairs agencies once again call on citizens to abandon superstitions and not trust false practitioners who exploit the gullibility of the population for their own selfish purposes.
