Construction of a new passenger terminal has begun at Dushanbe International Airport and is planned to be completed within one to two years. This was announced today at a press conference by the airport's director Zainullo Sharifzoda.
According to him, the project of the new terminal is being developed jointly with Turkish and Chinese specialists. The new terminal will be built to replace the existing Terminal No. 2.
In addition, special areas for meeting and seeing off passengers are being created at the airport, which will become available in the near future. Since May of this year, due to increased security measures, a ban on the entry of accompanying persons into the airport terminals has been introduced. These measures are aimed at complying with international flight safety rules, maintaining public order, sanitary standards and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
The airport director emphasized that the new areas for those meeting and seeing off passengers will be comfortable and accessible at any time of the year, which will improve service for passengers and guests of the capital.
The construction of a new terminal and the development of special zones are part of a set of measures to modernize Dushanbe International Airport and increase its capacity, which meets the growing needs of Tajikistan’s aviation sector.
