The volume of industrial production in the Sughd region of Tajikistan for the first half of 2025 amounted to 18.1 billion somoni, which is 32.8 percent more than the same period in 2024. This was reported by the industry department of the regional administration.
According to the department, the industrial production index in the region reached 132.8 percent, which indicates stable growth dynamics in the sector. Currently, there are about 1,300 industrial enterprises operating in the Sughd region, producing 253 types of products.
“The growth of production and expansion of the range of industrial products indicate the sustainable development of the industry, an increase in the share of import-substituting goods and an increase in the competitiveness of domestic products,” the regional administration noted.
In preparation for the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and the implementation of socio-economic development plans, 84 new industrial facilities, including enterprises and production workshops, were opened in the region in the first half of this year. Thanks to this, 536 new jobs were created.
New enterprises mainly operate in the areas of construction materials production, food and light industry. These areas are of priority importance in the strategy of providing the domestic market with domestically produced products and reducing dependence on imports.
Industrial development and support for investment activity remain key priorities of regional economic policy. These measures contribute to increasing employment, improving the standard of living of the population and strengthening the country's production potential.
