As a result of operational and investigative activities, officers of the Internal Affairs Department of the Yavan District of the Khatlon Region detained two residents of the Abdurahmoni Djoi District, suspected of a series of cattle thefts. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Khatlon Region.
According to the department, the police received numerous statements from citizens of the villages of Obi-Oshik and Pakhtakor in the Yavan and Abdurahmoni Jomi districts about the theft of goats and sheep. During the operational activities, the identities and location of the alleged criminals were established.
Those detained were Shodizoda Rakhmiddin Emomiddin, born in 2001, Shodiev Shahrom Bilolovich, born in 2007 – both are residents of the Abdurahmoni Jomi district.
The investigation established that the said persons, acting at night and taking advantage of the absence of the owners, illegally entered household plots and pastures, from where they stole small cattle. After committing the crimes, they fled the scene, thereby causing damage to the owners.
To date, their involvement in six episodes of cattle theft has been proven. The total amount of material damage caused was 15,500 somoni.
The investigation department of the Yavan district police department opened a criminal case against the suspects under Part 2 of Article 244 (theft committed by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to identify possible additional episodes of illegal activity by the detainees.
