The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, together with the Ministry of Finance, the Antimonopoly Service, the National Bank and leading energy organizations of the country signed an agreement on the introduction of a bank escrow account for the sale of electricity. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The agreement was signed in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 23, 2025 No. XX "On the escrow bank account for the distribution and payment of funds received from the sale of electricity through the energy system of the Republic of Tajikistan."
The signatories include the National Bank of Tajikistan, the State Unitary Enterprise Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan Amonatbank, as well as open joint-stock companies Barki Tojik, Shabakahoi intikoli bark and Shabakahoi taksimoti bark.
The main objective of the new mechanism is to ensure transparency, security and efficient distribution of funds received from the sale of electricity in the republic. The introduction of an escrow account will minimize financial risks associated with operations in the energy market, and will also simplify control over receipts and expenses.
The implementation of this initiative is in line with the Government’s strategic objectives to modernise the energy sector and improve the quality of financial flow management in the industry.
