An extended meeting chaired by the head of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region Alisher Khudoberdi Mirzonabot was held in Khorog, where the results of the region's socio-economic development for the first half of 2025 were summed up and priority tasks for the rest of the year were identified, the press service of the regional administration reports .
The main report was delivered by the Deputy Chairman of the region Muso Mirzozoda. According to him, the pace of socio-economic development in the region maintains a stable positive trend.
Economy. Gross regional product amounted to 873 million somoni, which is 8% more than in the same period last year. Per capita, this is 3,712 somoni. The overall growth of GRP compared to the first half of 2024 reached 108%, short-term rates were 1.2%. The volume of paid services increased by 2.9% and amounted to 85.1 million somoni.
Budget and taxes. The plan for tax revenues to the regional budget was fulfilled by 105.1%: with a plan of 132.8 million somoni, 139.6 million somoni were actually received.
Entrepreneurship. The total number of business entities reached 9,839, and their activities contributed 6 million 928.5 thousand somoni to the budget.
Investments. The region is implementing 13 state investment projects worth 283.3 million US dollars. 217.1 million have been spent, which is 76.6% of the total.
Cashless payments. As part of the implementation of the Presidential Decree on the development of cashless payments, 1,351 electronic terminals are operating in the region. They processed 760,652 transactions totaling 580.7 million somoni, which is 18% more in number and 32% more in volume than last year.
Industry. As part of the Industrial Development Years (2022–2026) and in honor of National Unity Day, 33 new industrial facilities were commissioned with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, creating 264 jobs. There are a total of 182 industrial enterprises operating in the region. In the first half of the year, 45 new enterprises and workshops were launched, creating 360 jobs. 14 types of products are manufactured.
Agriculture. The volume of agricultural production amounted to 225.7 million somoni, which is 3.1% higher than the level of the previous year. The region has planted 91.5 hectares of new orchards, which is 57.2 hectares more than the same period in 2024.
Social sphere. Work is underway to build and repair 51 social facilities, including 18 schools and 28 kindergartens. The total amount of funds raised is more than 89 million somoni.
Healthcare. Construction of 3 medical centers and 5 medical institutions continues. Major repairs are being carried out in 9 medical centers.
Tourism. Over the first six months of this year, 17,921 tourists visited GBAO. The main destinations were the cultural and historical attractions and healing springs of the region.
At the end of the meeting, the regional chairman instructed the heads of cities and districts to launch construction of at least one facility in each village as part of preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was also emphasized that work on the improvement of settlements should be intensified with the participation of entrepreneurs and philanthropists.
Alisher Mirzonabot recalled the need to effectively implement the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon given during his visit to the region, as well as the provisions of the Head of State's Address for 2024. The leaders were instructed to complete 2025 with decent results.
