On July 10, 2025, the 3rd extraordinary session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) was held in Baku. The event was attended by a delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Rajabali Rahmonali, the press service of the Committee reports.

The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilkhom Abdurakhman also participated in the session.
The assembly participants discussed current issues of international cooperation in the field of civil defense, increasing resilience to emergency situations and strengthening the capacity of national civil defense structures.
During the assembly, the organizational issue of choosing the Secretary General of the ICDO was considered. During the voting, the participants from four candidates, representatives of Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Serbia and Tunisia, by a majority of votes chose Mr. E. Kalantarli, who previously held a position in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The delegation of Tajikistan visited the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Crisis Management Center, the Main Department for the Development of Digital Technologies and Innovations and the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
The delegation of the Tajik Emergency Situations Committee also met with delegations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and the International Civil Defense.
