In Tajikistan, police officers have detained three men on suspicion of committing fraud with the infliction of major material damage. This was reported by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
During operational and investigative activities in the Bobojon Gafurov district, a 37-year-old man engaged in entrepreneurial activity in the field of buying and selling cars was detained. As established by the investigation, in September 2024, the suspect fraudulently took possession of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado-150 SUV worth 250 thousand somoni. He partially paid the owner the amount, but did not return the remaining 174 thousand somoni. A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 3 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, the investigation is ongoing.
Another case of fraud was registered in Jabbor Rasulov district. A 40-year-old local resident was detained there, who in February 2019 fraudulently sold an apartment belonging to the victim's brother for 140 thousand somoni, receiving 22.5 thousand somoni in cash. He then resold the same apartment to another local resident for 280 thousand somoni, pocketing 150 thousand somoni. The suspect spent the funds received on personal needs. A criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan, and an investigation is underway.
In addition, a 42-year-old local resident filed a fraud complaint with the Sino District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dushanbe. As it turned out, in April 2024, a 35-year-old resident of the Rudaki district, having gained the trust of the victim, received from him 282 thousand somoni and a Lexus LX-570 car worth 600 thousand somoni, promising to return the money within two months. However, according to the applicant, the suspect sold the vehicle and appropriated the money. An investigation is underway into this fact.
