President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron within the framework of the third UN Ocean Conference, which was held on June 9 in Nice. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various areas. The President of France thanked Emomali Rahmon for accepting the invitation and participating in international events in Nice, and also noted the leading role of Tajikistan in promoting the global water and climate agenda.
Macron congratulated the Tajik side on the successful holding of the first International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation, which took place earlier in Dushanbe.
As emphasized in the report, during the meeting, mutual interest was expressed in developing cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, industrial and agricultural spheres, as well as in the field of investment, technology and mining.
The parties paid special attention to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, cooperation in the fields of science, education and tourism. The importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties as an important element of bilateral cooperation was noted.
Emomali Rahmon and Emmanuel Macron expressed satisfaction with the progressive development of cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations. They also touched on climate change and the impact of climate factors on the environment, including in the context of the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences for 2025–2034.
The parties confirmed the similarity of their approaches to issues of ensuring international and regional security, including the fight against terrorism and extremism.
Following the meeting, Emomali Rahmon invited Emmanuel Macron to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
