Fraud remains one of the most common crimes in Tajikistan, despite a significant decline in the number of such offenses. This was announced today at a press conference summarizing the Ministry of Internal Affairs' performance for the first half of 2026, by Tajik Interior Minister Rahimzoda Ramazon Hamro .

According to the minister, 2,002 cases of fraud were registered in the republic from January to June of this year, compared to 2,356 such crimes recorded in the same period last year. Thus, the number of registered fraud cases decreased by 354 cases , or approximately 15 percent .

Despite the decline in figures, fraud remains the most common crime recorded in the country. In terms of number of such offenses, this category significantly outpaces theft, of which 1,814 were recorded in the first half of the year, and hooliganism, with 743 cases .

As Rahimzoda Ramazon Hamro noted, law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen measures to prevent and detect fraudulent crimes, including those committed using modern information technology, mobile communications, and the internet. Particular attention is being paid to preventative work with the public, increasing citizens' legal literacy, and promptly responding to victims' complaints.

The Minister emphasized that the reduction in the number of registered frauds was the result of a series of operational and preventive measures carried out by units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies. At the same time, efforts to identify organized crime groups and individuals specializing in fraudulent schemes will continue.

Overall, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 11,731 crimes were registered in Tajikistan in the first half of 2026, a 10.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The crime detection rate was 71 percent .

The Ministry noted that combating fraud remains a priority for internal affairs agencies, as such crimes cause significant financial damage to individuals and organizations and undermine trust in financial and civil law relations.
