In Dushanbe, in the first six months of 2026, police officers uncovered 93 cases of fortune-telling, according to the Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The agency notes that fortune-telling, as well as resorting to the services of fortune tellers and witchcraft practitioners, remain a pressing problem. Despite constant warnings, this negative phenomenon has yet to be eradicated.
According to the capital's police, criminal cases have been opened against five individuals who repeatedly engaged in fortune telling, in accordance with the requirements of Article 240, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Currently, the criminal cases initiated are at the investigation stage.
In addition, since the beginning of 2026, administrative offense reports have been drawn up against 11 citizens who used the services of fortune tellers under Article 482, Note 1 of the Code of the Republic of Tajikistan on Administrative Offenses.
The said citizens were given administrative fines.
The Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens to remain committed to eradicating this negative phenomenon, to refrain from turning to fortune tellers and those practicing witchcraft, and to cooperate with the police.
