According to the results of the first half of 2026, 22,763 doctors and 65,496 mid-level medical workers were working in healthcare institutions in Tajikistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan at a press conference on the results of the first six months of this year.
According to the agency, compared to last year, the number of doctors in the country increased by 2.7%, and the number of mid-level medical workers by 2.6%.
Preliminary statistics also show that the staffing level of physician positions in medical institutions has reached 95.7%. Among mid-level medical personnel, this figure is 100%.
Compared to the previous year, the staffing level of medical positions increased by approximately 2.2 percentage points, and that of mid-level medical personnel by 0.4 percentage points.
In the first half of 2026, 1,142 doctors and 2,143 mid-level medical workers were certified.
The number of certified doctors increased by 537 compared to the same period in 2025. At the same time, the number of certified mid-level medical workers decreased by 937.
In addition, during the reporting period, 36 candidate and four doctoral dissertations were defended in the current dissertation councils.
To improve the material and technical base of medical institutions, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population transferred medical equipment, instruments, and supplies worth a total of 36.8 million somoni to the country's health care institutions over a six-month period.
