Representatives of free and special economic zones in the CIS member states supported the initiative to establish an advisory body to the CIS Executive Committee on economic zone activities, the CIS Executive Committee press service reported.
A meeting dedicated to supporting free and special economic zones in the CIS countries was held on July 2 at the Moscow office of the CIS Executive Committee via videoconference.

Representatives from free economic zones in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated. Members of the CIS Executive Committee and a representative of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth also joined the discussion.
Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee, welcomed the meeting participants. He noted that the development of special economic zones is currently receiving significant attention within various integration associations.
According to him, the CIS Executive Committee, together with the Commonwealth member states, is working to develop and promote free and special economic zones.
The meeting was chaired by Pavel Marinenko, head of the administration of the Mogilev free economic zone in Belarus.
The main topic of discussion was the proposal by representatives of the Mogilev FEZ to establish an advisory body on special economic zones of the Commonwealth member states within the CIS Executive Committee. Participants also discussed the possible format of its work.
The initiative received support from representatives of the countries participating in the meeting.
It is expected that the new advisory body will enable the parties to exchange experiences in the field of management technologies. Furthermore, it was proposed to consider the possibility of holding industry-specific contact exchanges for residents of free economic zones in the CIS countries.
The meeting participants also advocated for the creation of a database of investment projects. It is expected that this will be used for information exchange and partner searches within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The next meeting on cooperation between free and special economic zones is planned to be held in September–October 2026.
