Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover in January-April 2026 increased by 12.8% compared to the same period last year. Positive trends were also noted in several other CIS countries, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Across the CIS as a whole, industrial production increased by 1.2% in January–April 2026 compared to the same period last year. This figure does not include data for Turkmenistan.
In January–April 2025, industrial production growth in the CIS countries also amounted to 1.2%.
Commercial freight volumes, excluding pipeline transport, increased by 1.8% in January–April 2026. These calculations exclude data from Belarus and Turkmenistan, while figures for Moldova and Uzbekistan are based on the first quarter.
By comparison, in the same period in 2025, commercial freight traffic growth was 1.9%.
Retail turnover in the CIS countries increased by 4.6%. This figure is calculated excluding data from Moldova and Turkmenistan.
In January–April last year, retail turnover growth was 3.7%.
According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, the gross domestic product of the CIS countries in constant prices increased by 0.8% compared to the same period last year.
The value of foreign trade turnover in goods in current prices across the CIS increased by 3.4%. Data excludes Turkmenistan.
Six CIS countries demonstrated positive dynamics in foreign trade.
The largest increase in foreign trade turnover was recorded in Belarus, up 17.2%. In Moldova, the figure increased by 15.1%, in Tajikistan by 12.8%, and in Kazakhstan by 10.5%. In Armenia, foreign trade volume increased by 4.6%, and in Russia by 2.5%.
At the same time, three CIS countries have seen a decline in foreign trade turnover.
In Azerbaijan, the figure decreased by 21.9%, in Kyrgyzstan by 4%, and in Uzbekistan by 1.4%.
