The seventh meeting of the Commission of Children's Rights Commissioners—Ombudsmen of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States—was held on July 1 at the Zubrenok National Children's Educational and Health Center in the Minsk Region of Belarus. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Tajikistan was represented at the meeting by Nigora Mukimi Aminzoda, Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tajikistan and Commissioner for Children's Rights.

Employees of the offices of the Commissioners for Children's Rights and the CIS Executive Committee, as well as representatives of government agencies and organizations from the Commonwealth countries, also took part in the commission's work.

The meeting summarized the results of Belarus's chairmanship of the Commission. Participants also approved the information on the activities of the Commission of Children's Rights Commissioners of the CIS Member States. The document is planned to be presented at a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.

During the meeting, Commission members discussed the identification, prevention, and response to cases of violence against children. Particular attention was paid to the role of the family in ensuring the comprehensive and harmonious development of the individual.

Participants also discussed issues of psychological well-being of children and adolescents, contemporary challenges and possible solutions, as well as early diagnosis of mental health disorders in children in resource-limited settings.

In addition, the role of children's rights commissioners in monitoring the prevention of social orphanhood and the importance of national mechanisms for the protection of children's rights in improving legislation were discussed.

The meeting approved the Regulations for the International Children's Challenge "Know Your Rights," dedicated to the Year of Legal Education in the CIS.

The challenge will be held in six Commonwealth states in turn from March 15 to June 1, 2027. Its goal is to improve children's legal literacy and foster respect for the rights of others.

In preparation for the eighth meeting, the Commission members approved the draft agenda. It included issues related to the implementation of the child's right to work and the protection of children from economic exploitation, as well as the legal framework for ensuring access to education for individuals with special needs.

It is also planned to consider the development of additional education for children, raising funds for the implementation of programs to assist families with children, and protecting the rights of migrant children by creating mechanisms for exchanging information between CIS member states.

In addition, the participants intend to discuss the activities of the Children's Council under the Commission of Children's Rights Commissioners of the CIS Member States.

From July 1, by decision of the Commission, the chairmanship will pass from the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
