The blood transfusion department of the State Institution "Republican Scientific Oncology Center" of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan received a modern Trima Accel apheresis system, designed to collect and process blood by separating it into its components.
According to the Ministry of Health, the center's specialists have already completed the necessary training and have begun working with the new equipment, which will improve the effectiveness of treating patients with oncological and hematological diseases.
Trima Accel is the only device of its kind in Tajikistan. This technology allows for the extraction of individual components from donor blood, including platelets, which are essential for patients with bleeding disorders and severe chemotherapy complications.
The first use of the equipment has already taken place: blood was collected and purified from the mother of a child undergoing treatment after a course of chemotherapy, after which the patient was transfused with apheresis platelets.
According to specialists, the system's key advantage is its high efficiency in using donor material. Blood components obtained from a single donor can help several patients suffering from bleeding, cancer, hematologic disease, and other blood disorders.
The Ministry emphasized that the introduction of new equipment will be an important step in the development of specialized medical care and will improve the quality of treatment for cancer patients in the country.
