In the city of Penjikent in the Sughd region, Broadtek Tajikistan Mining Investment Limited, a copper and tin mining and processing plant, will resume operations after a long hiatus. The city administration press service reported this.
According to local authorities, preparations for the resumption of the enterprise's operations are being carried out with the support of the Government of Tajikistan and regional executive authorities.
Currently, new equipment is being installed at the production site, one of the workshops is being reconstructed, and dormitories for workers are being renovated.
The responsible authorities have been tasked with commissioning the first phase of the plant by the end of 2026. The launch of the facility is expected to create 200 permanent jobs.
Plans to reopen a lead production plant in Penjikent were previously announced. According to available information, once operational, this plant will create jobs for 150 people.
According to the Tajikistan Statistics Agency, the country's industrial enterprises produced goods worth 21.8 billion somoni from January to April 2026. This represents a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
