On the sidelines of the IV Meeting of Industry Ministers of the SCO Member States, a meeting was held between the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, and the Minister of Heavy Industry and Steel of the Republic of India, Kumaraswamy Haradhananahalli Devegowda.
During the talks, the parties confirmed the strategic nature of the Tajik-Indian partnership, based on regular dialogue between the leaders of the two states.
The meeting participants discussed a number of specific areas of industrial cooperation. Specifically, they discussed the joint assembly of automobiles and electric vehicles, the supply of electric buses for urban transport, and the localization of hydropower and electrical equipment manufacturing using the expertise of Indian companies, including BHEL.
The parties also discussed prospects for the joint production of machine tools and industrial equipment. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the metallurgical industry, the development of critical minerals, and the training of engineering personnel for the industry.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. The parties also confirmed their intention to continue cooperation at the expert working group level.
