On June 5, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Constantinos Kombos, the press service of the head of state reported.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for developing cooperation between Tajikistan, the Republic of Cyprus and the European Union.



"We are interested in long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union and its member states," said the head of state, Emomali Rahmon, at the beginning of the conversation.
In this context, Tajikistan’s interest in expanding bilateral relations with Cyprus in various areas of mutual interest was emphasized.
It was also noted that Tajikistan intends to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union and is interested in expanding the regional cooperation agenda between the countries of Central Asia and the European Union.
The importance of continuing to maintain ongoing political dialogue and productive cooperation between Tajikistan and Cyprus within international structures, in particular the UN, including on water and climate issues, was emphasized.
Important topics of discussion also included issues of cooperation to strengthen security and stability in the region and the world.
