During a working visit to the Vakhsh district, Khatlon Region Chairman Davlatali Said inspected the progress of Moroccan locust prevention and control efforts in the village of Kaltashur in the Mashal district. This was reported by the Khatlon Region Chairman's press service.
During the visit, officials reported that a number of timely and important measures are being implemented by the district executive authorities, the locust control expedition management, jamoat chairmen, mahalla leaders, livestock farm leaders, and local residents to prevent and eradicate locusts.
The locust infestation was first recorded this year on March 9, and has now been observed in mountainous areas covering a total area of 1,690 hectares. Of these, 1,685 hectares have already been treated and eradicated, while additional measures to completely eradicate the remaining outbreaks are ongoing.

To intensify the fight against locusts, local residents, activists, and military personnel from Military Unit No. 45989 of the Emergency Situations Committee have mobilized equipment and supplies. Specifically, six tractors with specialized equipment, two Toyota vehicles, two water trucks, 12 motorcycles, and 47 pieces of hand-held spraying equipment are being used.
It is also reported that the locust control expedition in the area has been supplied with 275 liters of chemicals, which are used daily to treat the affected areas.

While reviewing the progress of the work, the regional governor instructed those responsible to strengthen ongoing monitoring of the situation and ensure the effective use of equipment and chemicals. He emphasized that timely prevention of the locust infestation is paramount to preserving agricultural crops and ensuring food security.
In addition, those responsible have been instructed to intensify outreach efforts among the population and ensure close cooperation between relevant agencies to completely eliminate the threat of pest spread.
