A Tajik delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholikzoda held a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C., as part of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group spring meetings, the National Bank of Tajikistan reported.
In particular, on April 14, a meeting was held with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Antonella Bassani.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, as well as issues of attracting investment and implementing priority socioeconomic projects. It was noted that the World Bank, as a key strategic partner, makes a significant contribution to advancing structural reforms, developing infrastructure, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Tajikistan.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of major energy projects, including the Rogun hydroelectric power station, which is considered an important factor in ensuring energy independence and developing the country's green economy.
During the discussion of the macroeconomic situation, it was noted that consistent reforms and support from international partners have contributed to strengthening macroeconomic stability and maintaining high rates of economic growth. Despite the influence of external factors, real gross domestic product growth in the first two months of 2026 amounted to 8 percent.
It was also emphasized that the dynamic development of the banking sector and the digitalization of financial services, including the growth of non-cash payments and the expansion of the use of modern payment instruments, reflect the transformation of the country's financial system.
The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of green finance, sustainable development, digitalization of the financial sector, and increasing financial inclusion, expressing their readiness to continue constructive and long-term collaboration.
