In Dushanbe, 43 criminal cases were opened in the first three months of 2026 for obstructing children's secondary education, according to the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs.
The department reiterated that raising children and ensuring they receive a secondary general education is one of the most important responsibilities of parents. However, it notes that some parents are indifferent to this issue and, in some cases, become an obstacle to their children's education.
Criminal cases were initiated under Article 164 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, which provides for liability for obstructing the acquisition of education in any form.
According to the law, such actions are punishable by a fine of one thousand to one thousand two hundred times the calculated rate, or by compulsory labor for a period of 180 to 240 hours, or by imprisonment for up to two years.
Due to the increasing number of such cases, parents are advised to take the upbringing and education of their children seriously, create the necessary conditions for obtaining an education, and constantly monitor the educational process.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the future of society directly depends on the proper upbringing of the younger generation.
